Wendler 5/3/1, Boring But Big Variation, Cycle 1, Week 3, Day 4

It was interesting to be doing squats in the old-fashioned squat rack with the steel plates and the thin bar again.

I spent 10 or 15 minutes in the steam bath after the workout, and it felt amazing -- despite all the dirty old men who kept leering at me like I was a piece of meat.

I seem to keep making the same mistake: once again I forgot my spreadsheet, so I plugged in 330 lbs as the target instead of 325. Obviously, it didn't produce a weight I couldn't handle, but it would be nice if I could say on schedule.

The assistance sets were much easier this time than last time. I suppose I am just getting more used to the volume.

Overal, I can't say I feel great after the first three weeks. I have shin splints, my biceps are tender, my hips are sore, my lower backs aches. I am hoping that I get more accustomed to the high reps of the assitance sets. I plan to do it for at least four months and then reassess at that point.

Next week is the carrot this program offers: the rest week. I am definitely looking forward to it. Hopefully, I won't be so sore to start the next cycle.

I am also going to mull adding some other assistance exercises: maybe pullups (I did a few reps throughout the workout today), biceps curls, and dips.
