I dawdled way too long before attempting the rep at 225 lb. I'm not sure why it made me so nervous. Maybe because 205 felt so heavy. All I know is there was no doubt whatsoever that weight was not coming back up. As soon as I hit the hole, the bar came crashing down. I'm not sure if it was a strength issue or if it was more of a form problem. I suspect I might have leaned too far over and the bar simply rolled off, because it was instantaneous. Either way, I know what I'll be attempting next time.

As I am wont to do, I took entirely too long doing my work sets, finding every excuse in the book to procrastinate: Adjusting my outfit, resetting the plates, jabbering with other people in the gym. I wish I knew why I do this. It's not like I have had any near failures. I guess there is just that voice in the back of my head that says, "This COULD be the set that doesn't go up" â but of course it goes up anyway.

The major downside to taking so long on squats is that I had to rush through presses and deadlifts. Between my warmups and work sets, I was struggling to get the weight over my head. Now, it wouldn't surprise me if I stall somewhere around 100 lbs anyway, but I think it was harder than it had to be.

↑ Mixed grip (right hand supinated)

I really didn't give deadlift the proper due attention. I hurried through warmups and probably pulled with my back more than I should have. I know I walked out of the gym like I was wearing a corset, and the next day my back was pretty sore. I don't think I injured anything, but it was a warning to be careful in the future. Also, I can tell that the era of adding 20 lb per workout has come to a crashing halt. To be honest, this was more a series of five singles than a set of five. I definitely need to get ahold of an Ecoball to improve my grip.

My legs felt like rubber as I wobbled out of the gym tonight.
